GOP files amendment to withdraw troops from Afghanistan
House Republicans have introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that will formally withdraw US troops from Afghanistan.
The amendment would call for an orderly draw-down of troops stationed in the country, officially ending the nearly 20-year-old war.
Trump originally campaigned on ending the longstanding military engagements in the Middle East, arguing that such intervention was ultimately bad for the US.
