Congressman John Lewis, of Georgia, passed away last night at the age of 80.
As a teenager, Lewis was inspired by the nonviolent actions of Martin Luther King Jr. and would go on to become one of the most recognizable Civil Rights leaders in the country.
After marching with King and even speaking from the steps of the Lincoln in 1963 and participating in the now famous marches from Selma to Montgomery, he would later go own to serve in the House of Representatives for 33 years.
Lewis was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year.
