CNN is accused of staging this footage at the border for a ratings boost
CNN is facing backlash for a video segment supposedly showing an illegal border crossing at the Rio Grande.
According to immigration advocates and experts, the footage doesn’t make any sense.
The video shows what appears to be a masked smuggler in fatigues escorting illegal immigrants across the river. But a smuggler wouldn’t dress in a way that made them stand out from the crowd.
Plus, according to immigration experts, that portion of the Rio Grande is fully controlled by Border Patrol agents.
CNN reporter Ed Lavandera appeared to have stumbled upon the crossing while reporting from the US-Mexico border. But those familiar with the ongoing crisis had their doubts.
“They either duped Ed Lavandera into doing this, or he’s so desperate for ratings he went along with it,” said one expert.
Of course, CNN’s production team is flat out denying any wrongdoing. So I guess that means they were easily fooled.

A 5-year-old boy battling cancer got to live out one of his personal dreams when the North Miami Police Department swore him in as an officer for a day.
Jeremiah has been battling High Risk Stage IV Neuroblastoma for over a year. He’s always dreamed of being a police officer, so the North Miami Police Department decided to make that dream come true.
When Chief Larry Juriga swore in Jeremiah, he became the youngest officer in the department’s history.
It’s nice to know Jeremiah’s dream came true, even if only for a day.
