White House Press Secretary Psaki says that President Biden is working on a “quiet” solution to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
It’s a pretty weak statement considering the fact that Israel is an American ally and the only peaceful democracy in the Middle East.
“Our focus and our strategy here is to work through quiet, intensive diplomacy,” said Psaki to reporters during a trip on Air Force One this week.
The problem with that approach is that “quiet” solutions rarely work when armed conflict is involved. Behind-the-scenes diplomacy serves little purpose when rockets are streaking across the sky. Instead of boldly telling Hamas that Israel is an American ally that has the right to defend itself, Biden continues to remain sheepish on the conflict.
